Meeting Program: The speaker for tomorrow’s Rotary meeting (Wed, 10/14) is James Fiorentino. He is a local artist who paints famous sports figures. This is a regular lunch meeting at Copper Hill Country Club at 12:15pm.
Pancake Day Meeting (Wed, 10/14 @ 1:30pm): Terry Ownes has called a Pancake Day meeting tomorrow at 1:30pm following the regular club meeting at Copper Hill.
2009 Ride for Rotary Event T-Shirts: We have a few shirts left from the 2009 event. If anyone would like to obtain an extra shirt, they are available. Regular prices are $15 for a short sleeve and $20 for a long sleeve. We are out of medium sizes, but we have several of other sizes. Let me know if anyone would like a shirt. Thanks!
Rotary United Nations Day (Sat, November 7, 2009): About 1,500 people, including Rotarians, Rotaract & Interact Members, and United Nations leaders, will attend the Rotary UN Day in New York City on November 7th. Organized by RI representatives to the UN, the day will feature panel discussions on water, literacy, health, and youth. Speakers from the United Nations, Rotary, and other non-governmental organizations will discuss humanitarian programs and provide insight into the more than 60-year relationship between Rotary and the UN. The program will also include a youth panel featuring a speaker from Interact and Rotaract, who will each present a 10-minute description of a hands-on international club projects. $7 for adults; $4 for children ages 5 – 11; and Children under 5 are free.
“I think this year’s event will be awesome!!!” say Terry Ownes, chairman of the Rotary Club of Flemington’s annual Pancake Day. The popular fundraiser runs from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Commons at Hunterdon Central High School in Raritan Township. The Commons is near Hunterdon Central’s field house on Junction road.
Rotary has also “spooked” up the menu with the addition of Rotary’s Boo-Berry & Count Chocula Pancakes for all ages to enjoy!!!!!
This year’s special activities will include an indoor Halloween High School, sponsored by Hunterdon Central as a “thank you” to the community for their support of the high school. The Halloween High School is free to kids Kindergarten through Grade 3 from 10 a.m. to 12noon. There will be Haunted House decorated hallways, children's scary story time in the Little Theater and all kinds of Halloween activities and games in different classrooms. Kids and their parents can come together and there will be prizes and gifts to families and kids who come in costume. “We are pleased to be able to partner with the Flemington Rotary during their popular Pancake Day,” said Superintendent Lisa Brady. “Parents can enjoy a pancake breakfast while their little ones have a chance to enjoy some Halloween fun with our high school students and staff. There is no charge for the Halloween High School activity. Families can participate in Halloween High school without having breakfast but we are hoping that they may choose to do both.”
In addition to the flapjacks flying and sausage sizzling on Saturday, October 31, there will also have a Bake Sale for all to enjoy! The Bake Sale will offer tempting cookies, candy, cakes, pies and pastries made by Rotary members and their spouses.
Pancake Day tickets are available in advance from Flemington Rotary Club members or at the door on October 31. You get as many pancakes as you want, with butter and syrup, a serving of sausage, coffee, tea, juice and milk.
The principal portion of money raised by Pancake Day will benefit scholarships for Hunterdon Central and Hunterdon County Polytech students.

The BAKE SALE at PANCAKE DAY (Sat, 10/31): The Bake Sale will take place during our Annual Pancake Day event from 7am to 1pm on Sat, October 31st at the HCRHS Commons. All Rotarians are requested to bring a baked item to the event. You can drop items off on Friday night (10/30) between 6-7pm at the HCRHS Commons OR on Saturday Morning (10/31) by 7:00 am. If everyone made something, we could make an extra $300.00. If you can’t make something, we will happily take donations instead!!! Thanks in advance for your support!!! Flemington Rotary HATS – For Sale: Bob Burgard purchased (20) Royal Blue baseball hats with the Rotary International Logo embroidered onto them. Bob is selling these just to recover his costs of purchasing them, which is $10 per hat. Payment shall be directly to Bob Burgard as he bought these himself on a first come, first served basis.
Flemington Main Street Halloween Costume Parade - Saturday October 31, 2009 6 pm: The line up and staging of kids will take place starting at 5 pm in front of Library on corner of Main & Maple.
Organized by the Flemington VFW Post 7856. Parade will start at 6 pm and last for approximately 1-1/2 hours. There will be prizes awarded for best costume based on age groups. Each child will get a free bag of candy. Marchers will be led by fire truck and judging will take place in front of Union Hotel. For more information contact Bob Godowns 732-921-5055.

The first time the potential member attends, there will be no cost for the meal. The potential member would then be responsible for the cost of all future meetings attended prior to becoming a member.
